The Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA)

The YMCA sent parties of children to Canada in the 1900s. Many of these children came under the Empire Settlement Act. The following is a passenger list of 1932 for the Canadian Pacific ship Melita. The information was found in BT27/1335 in the Public Records Office in England. (my thanks to D. Beavis for the list.)

Aboard the Canadian Pacific Line SS Melita, leaving Liverpool 18 March 1932 bound for Halifax NS and St John NB. All the boys disembarked at Halifax, travelling third class and all were listed as 'farming'. They are all also listed as 'c/o CPR London SW (YMCA party).
